As most of you probably already know, Ms. Shelby made her debut at 5:34 p.m. on February 1st. Due to hypertension issues, my doctor decided to induce at 39 weeks. It was a long, scary day but thankfully everything turned out well. Long story short, after my 3rd epidural, my blood pressure dropped to 65\35 and they had to give me meds to bring it back up. When my blood pressure dropped so drastically, Shelby's heart rate dropped and they were never able to get it regulated. Thankfully everything turned out okay and she came out screaming!
Shelby had jaundice and had to be put on the light during the first two weeks but finally her levels came down and she was able to come off the light. It's funny how different your kids can be. Blake was so relaxed and happy and quiet and never cried. Shelby is so fussy and wants to be held all the time. We're currently still trying to get her formula and reflux medications situated so hopefully something will make her less fussy. She's not a good car rider either.
Blake loves his baby sister (so far) and is actually very protective of her. Hopefully that will continue and they will get along well. I have two weeks of maternity leave left and I am going to be really sad when I have to return to work. I have thoroughly enjoyed this time with my babies (although some days are extremely trying) and will miss them terribly when I return to work. My parents are amazing and have helped me out so much. I don't know how people do it without family, I really don't. I count my blessings every day :)
